Cycling/Mountain Biking

Summit Century Bike Ride

We offer some of the most picturesque, diverse and uncrowded bicycle riding opportunities in the Western United States. There are numerous options for both road and mountain bike riders, including loops, out and back rides and point-to-point rides of any length and level of difficulty.

Valley rides

With starting points in Gazelle, Grenada, Edgewood and Montague, the Shasta Valley offers many opportunities, cruising past cattle ranches and hay fields in constant view of Mount Shasta.

River rides

For wild and scenic river enthusiasts, there are spectacular unpaved route to Lower, Middle and Upper McCloud Falls is perfect for waterfall lovers. Paved routes to Kangaroo, Gumboot and Castle Lakes offer great rides to a few of Siskiyou County’s glacially-carved alpine lakes. Mountain bikers will enjoy the ride to Cliff Lake.

Cycling through the forest

Mountain rides

Volcanic area enthusiasts will enjoy gentle to moderate mountain bike rides in the Medicine Lake Highlands east of McCloud, and Lava Beds National Monument south of Tulelake. Features include lava tubes, glass (obsidian) mountains, pumice and cinder cones, and craters and calderas. You can even spend the night in Little Mt. Hoffman Lookout Tower (by reservation only.)
